This was the first activity that EMAC implemented publicly. We called local Japanese communities to join us to cleanup the beach where a marine animal rehabilitation hospital regularly released their patients after recovery. Some of the participants gave donations to the hospital for their operation.
Many of the participants have never experienced beach cleanups before. They were shocked to find the endless trash appeared from under pebbles and seaweeds. The purposes of this event were not only clean the beach for wild animals, but to inform people, especially young volunteers how our trash had entered into the ocean and what we could about it.
We had about 65 people participated. After the event, they all felt like a family and left with smiles. Thank you all for spending your precious weekend for our planet! We hope to see you soon, again!
